About the Artist
Kathy's Bio
I love to paint and I paint where I am. I have lived in Florida for 40 years and that is why my paintings speak to the place. I am not a realistic, tight painter but much prefer an impressionist approach. The brush stroke and what it makes the viewer see is the goal of each painting. You may see my work at Art Trends Gallery in St. Simons Island, Georgia, on Facebook or Instagram under kathymcclain2. Most of this work is done in oil and I enjoy that medium because it dries slowly and I can work on a painting for days.
I have studied with Anthony Alonso, Charles Gruppe, Karin Bastidas, Carol Baehrun, Garry Katz, Hugh O’Neill, Dee Beard Dean, Carl Fougerousse, Peggy Kroll Roberts, Larry Moore and many more. Every artist has something to teach and all of wonderful artists I have met have always been very generous with their knowledge and pearls of wisdom. I have work in private collections in Tennessee, California, Connecticut, North Carolina, New York, Massachusetts and Florida.
Any painting you see on my site that is not available can be painted again, any size you may want. Just contact me.
